As a Software Architect you will become part of the engineering team at Lightyear, In this role you will help grow the Software department and lead the software development within the company. You will work closely together with the Electrical, Test & Simulations and Applications teams to balance both current market demands and shape the roadmap for further development and products.
You are responsible for all software, which includes embedded software for the control of our power converters and telematics unit, but also the associated cloud platform and Android/iPhone app, and data collection.
Your goal is to architect and develop the software ecosystem in such a way as to maximize standardization between different clients, optimize for power consumption and data charges on the embedded side and user experience for the App.
After the daily standup with the team in the morning, where you check if everything is still going according to schedule and if the priorities are still correct, you start by looking at different cloud architectures for the upcoming data controllers that will be built for our next generation solar controllers, making sure all requirements are set to start the new development. You will check with the performance and simulation team what is all needed and how it would be possible to access this data, while at the same time setting up a standard way of working that will be scalable throughout the organization as it grows.
After lunch, you might have some interviews for new candidates, a conversation with the sales and commercial teams, or engage in a strategy session with the managment. If everything is clear, you spend some time reviewing the latest developments in power electronics to understand their impact on your software designs. Once this is all to a level you are happy with, you continue with your team to write the code for the first demonstration unit of the new functionality, which will be tested at the end of the week.
In order to succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear; pro-activity, professionalism, communication and adaptability are crucial.
