What will you be doing in this role?

• Administer instances of on cloud (Azure&AWS) and on premises Databases;
• Optimise database maintenance plan & fix high availability database server issues;
• Perform database maintenance/task streamlining;
• Investigate backup/restore issues;
• Optimise database replication and disaster recovery;
• Second tier incident management;
• Investigation of root cause of incidents and proposal of short-term and long-term solutions;
• Perform on demand database backup and restore;
• Monitor SQL server cluster performance and anticipate issues;
• Patch/Update of database servers/infrastructure;
• Assist in automation of on demand database backups;
• Respond to requests for database creation, user privilege assignment.

Requirements:

What do you need to succeed in this position?

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent 3 years of higher education in a related field;
• Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience;
• Experience with cloud database platforms (Azure, AWS) and cloud monitoring tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor);
• In-depth experience with SQL Server and other relational database technologies;
• Strong scripting skills with PowerShell, Bash, or other languages for automating database tasks;
• Good knowledge of both on-premises and cloud environments;
• Prior experience with high availability and disaster recovery, or other cloud-based solutions.
