We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help us shape the future of audience insights at Mentimeter. Join our Insights Team and play a key role in delivering AI-powered, meaningful insights to millions of users.

The team

The Insights Team’s mission is to provide the most powerful, intuitive insights for every Mentimeter presentation. As part of the Insights Team, you'll play a key role in enhancing the results experience of each presentation held. Not just by intuitively presenting data, but by aggregating, analyzing, and transforming it into meaningful insights. We empower our users to better understand their audiences! Some of these features are AI-powered, and we’re continuing on the path of leveraging AI to build even better insights in the future.

Who you are

For this role, we believe you have at least 8 years of related work experience as a software engineer, and through your experience, you have gained a good understanding of product development. You most likely also have a master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.

You are a reliable, high-performing individual contributor with a solid understanding of your area of specialization. You always have a good idea of what you want to do and then just do it. You embrace change and short feedback loops.

We hope you bring a passion for software development, scalable architecture, and building great products. For us, it is important that everyone cares about code quality, so an interest in testing and automation is needed. Excellent communication skills and working independently and in a team are other traits we are looking for in all our colleagues.

Last but not least, you must have a curious mindset, be open to learning & sharing knowledge, and be interested in working with our tech stack.

Tech stack & tools

• Frontend: React (Next.js, TypeScript)
• Backend: Ruby (not Rails)
• Other technologies: Tailwind CSS, Node.js, Redis, PostgreSQL, Cloudflare, AWS

For this role, we don’t necessarily require someone who knows Ruby. If you know Ruby, that’s great, but knowing another backend language well and being willing to learn Ruby is equally fine. It’s more important to us that you have the right attitude than the exact right skill set.
