Scope:

As a Development Support Engineer, you will be responsible for building, supporting, managing, and optimizing the systems and tools on which the software development processes rely. The role encompasses a wide range of activities, including monitoring, scripting, automation, research, debugging, and documentation. You will provide technical support and collaborate with multiple teams across the company, ensuring smooth operations and continuous improvement of development tools, systems, and processes while maintaining alignment with compliance standards.

Experience Level:

This is a medium to senior-level position, requiring 3 to 5 years of experience in at least one of the following roles: software development, scripting, automation, DevOps, or system engineering.

Core Responsibilities:

Systems and Tools Management:

Build, monitor, maintain, and improve the systems and tools that underpin software development processes;
Evaluate, integrate, and manage new tools and technologies to improve development workflows and operational efficiency;
Ensure security, reliability, and efficiency in development environments and workflows;
Utilize static code analysis tools to ensure high-quality and secure code delivery;
Diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently to minimize impact on development processes.

Build and Deployment Pipelines:

Administer, monitor, and enhance CI/CD pipelines using tools like Atlassian Bamboo, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD;
Implement and enforce security best practices in pipeline management and deployment;
Regularly analyze and improve the performance of CI/CD pipelines to enhance delivery speed and reliability.

Development Process Optimization:

Contribute to the efficiency and reliability of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) by streamlining build and deployment processes, ensuring timely and successful project outcomes;
Develop and maintain scripts (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or others) to automate and optimize workflows.

Collaboration and Mentorship:

Serve as a technical liaison between teams, fostering alignment across development, QA, and operations departments to ensure consistent and efficient workflows;
Document processes, tools, and scripts for team-wide understanding;
Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure systems, tools, and processes adhere to compliance standards such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001;
Mentor junior colleagues and other teams, sharing best practices in automation, build processes, and DevOps.

Key Competencies and Skills:

Technical Expertise:

Advanced scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar);
Basic knowledge of programming in C++ and C#;
Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Atlassian Bamboo, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD;
Experience with static code analysis tools and deployment pipelines;
Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and deployment infrastructures.

Process Optimization and Security:

Good understanding of CI/CD workflows, system optimization, and security best practices;
Proven ability to deliver reliable, secure, and efficient development processes.

Problem-Solving and Research:

Ability to explore and implement new tools, methods, and solutions;
Interest in tackling complex challenges and adaptability to context switching.

Compliance and Alignment:

Ensure systems and processes adhere to compliance standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or GDPR.

Communication and Collaboration:

Good interpersonal and prioritization skills for working with multiple technical teams;
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across departments;
Mentorship and knowledge-sharing abilities to upskill colleagues and other teams.

Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;
3 to 5 years of experience in a relevant role, such as software development, scripting, DevOps, or system engineering, with a focus on CI/CD pipelines and automation.
