Summary of Position:

The role of the Business Architect is to work closely with the other Enterprise Architecture domains as well as with the business relationship managers in order to drive deep understanding of the business environment, drive current and future state, drive innovation topics and be predictive of needs, lead all solutions architects assigned by the CoE working on assigned division/function projects, and be the single focal point IT strategist and trusted advisor of the business relationship manager in order to create and maintain a 3 year strategic roadmap to make Aptiv competitive and cost effective. The Business Architect reports directly to the Global Lead, Solution Architecture Center of Excellence and Business Architecture and is part of Enterprise Architecture, which is part of the broader Strategy & Architecture IT Organization.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities of this position are related to developing the target state strategic roadmap of divisions/functions by which Aptiv will be competitive and cost effective.

Some of the specific responsibilities of this role include:

  • Be the most senior and seasoned architect representing IT to the business and on projects
  • Analyze business requirements to drive technical solutions and their framework via assigned solution architects in collaboration with Enterprise domain architects and business relationship managers
  • Work at multiple levels and be hands-on as needed to provide technical leadership, handle escalations and to remove roadblocks regarding the day-to-day issues for ongoing projects
  • Develop technology roadmaps, contribute to standards, and maintain future state
  • Contribute to test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects
  • Stay abreast of how technology is currently impacting and driving competitors and help Aptiv gain a competitive advantage by being able to get to the market first in a cost-effective manner
  • Assist in determining product direction
  • Assess vendor development/test strategies
  • Solve complex problems with many variables
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the organization's technologies and architectures as well as the business domain
  • Develop and maintain current and planned state architectural blueprints
  • Develop and maintain an aspirational 3-year strategic road map for the assigned division/function
  • Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals and strategies to the business relationship managers as well as business leaders
  • Initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of IT industry best practices, technologies, architectures and emerging technologies
  • Review new and existing program/project architecture for compliance with IT standards, policies and architectural plans.
  • Ensure proper participates of the appropriate enterprise/solutions architects in the development of solutions in support of new business and application expansion.

Candidate Qualifications:

The Business Architect will be an effective communicator and task manager. She/he will be able to conceptualize, plan, document and communicate effectively. The correct candidate will possess energy, develop value-added solutions and help lead change.

The successful candidate for this position will have the following experience and expertise:

  • 15+ years of experience in solution delivery, vendor management, and enterprise architecture
  • 10+ years’ hands on experience in large enterprises with a global user base (10,000+ devices)
  • Experience with leading architects and project resources to deliver business value
  • Experience creating a current state and driving a future state based on strategic business needs
  • Strong understanding of cloud solutions in the IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS space
  • Demonstrated leadership in collaboration with business users to drive strategy and innovation agenda for competitive advantage
  • Passionate about technology and using it to deliver business value
  • Strong infrastructure background a plus
  • GDPR and TISAX understanding a plus
  • High Performance Computing experience a plus
  • Manufacturing or automotive experience a plus
  • Expert with the following technologies:
    • Desktop and Application Virtualization
    • Cloud solutions such as Amazon and Azure
    • Microsoft technologies across OS, collaboration, and Azure

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, engineering, or equivalent
