Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Summary:

This position is a full time opportunity in our Horgen office, working on our most recently released product. The development team is a widely distributed scrum team, with team members in Europe and India. There is a strong emphasis placed on teamwork and collaboration, and the position includes working closely with developers and product owners to assist in the design of the software. The successful candidate will participate in planning, creation, and execution of test cases to ensure high quality and prompt delivery of software. This includes both manual and automated testing. No remote or contract employees will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in user story analysis and in defining acceptance criteria
  • Prepare and execute test plans
  • Be actively involved in sprint planning
  • Use testing tools for defect tracking and issue resolution
  • Perform regression, load/stress and performance testing
  • Prioritize multiple tasks in an agile, fast-paced environment
  • Investigate and recommend process improvements and be an active participant in regular retrospective meetings
  • Troubleshoot issues in various testing environments
  • Document test efforts and results, and communicate them with project stakeholders, management, developers, and QA team as required

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in computer science or other engineering field
  • At least 3-5 years of software testing experience
  • Experience working in an agile development environment, ideally with experience working with a distributed team
  • Experience writing automated tests is a plus
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong ability to document test results
  • Detail oriented
  • Self-starter with excellent follow through skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and thoroughly while still being able to adapt quickly to change
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work independently as well as work effectively with team members
  • Strong understanding of testing challenges for various types of tests, including new feature, regression, smoke, load and performance testing
  • Strong German and English skills required
  • Must be onsite in Horgen (Zurich) Switzerland
